The ethos of Tabernacle School is firmly based on Christian principles; we value cultural diversity and encourage all our students to achieve irrespective of their individual abilities.
Our focus is to educate and develop the whole pupil in an effort to fulfil the experiences, academic endeavours and aspirations of the individual child enabling them to achieve their full potential. Teaching and Learning is imbued with Biblical teaching and principles. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on the Christian spiritual dimension to their learning.
We have separate Senior and Primary devotionals three times each week and whole school assembly two days per week. Each class is given the opportunity to lead the assembly where students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills. It is therefore vital that students arrive at school on time as failure to do so lets the class down and is a disappointment to the individual students who worked so hard in preparation for this event.
The role of Prayer
We consistently acknowledge our dependency on God in all areas of our lives and always begin with prayer before starting our day. Heart attitude before performance is vital.
This means our goal is godly inward attitudes which will lead to right outward performance.
Respect for those in authority. This means that we train students towards a biblical attitude and response to those who are older, more experienced or in spiritual authority.
Faith in God. Students are encouraged in their personal trust in God; His word, and His sovereignty in their lives.
Excellence in effort. This means in all things students will try to do their best as unto the Lord.
Godly discipline: which means we will train students towards being able to recognise when and where they fall short of the godly standards and how to build spiritual and moral discipline in their lives.
We respect each person as God’s unique creation having individual needs and gifts that lead them into the areas and activities God has prepared for them. We want to:
Nurture individual gifting: which means we help students discover and develop individual gifts.
Develop personal responsibility: which means that each student will be encouraged to grow in responsibility over the areas large or small, that are put before them.
Help them recognise their freedom to choose: which means that we will encourage them to seek and apply good discernment or judgement to situations.
Encourage students towards their destiny in life: which means that we encourage students into areas and activities that God has prepared for them, encouraging them to discern where God is leading them.
