    Can produce and understand longer texts of 2 or more paragraphs. 

    Can understand several familiar contexts in the same passage, including some longer sentences and some unfamiliar language. 

    Identify and note the main points and important detail. 

    Can understand spoken and written language about a range of material, including longer passages which contain some complex sentences, unfamiliar language and subordination. 

    Regularly use grammar to change phrases in written and spoken work. 

    Understand the present tense and past/future. 

    Refer to present/everyday matters, past and future matters. 

    Can cope with near normal speed. 

    Can recognise and use some unfamiliar language. 

    Write short texts using simple sentences on a range of familiar topics, some mistakes occur but it is understood with little or no difficulty. 

    Structure ideas and link sentences and paragraphs together. 

    Take part in short unprepared conversations. 

    Regularly use opinions and justification, with qualifiers and quantifiers. 

    Refer to present/everyday matters and the past or future. 

    Can understand a range of texts including some less familiar contexts. 

    Adapt known language to new purposes, exhibiting grammatical awareness. 

    Pronunciation and intonation is generally accurate and consistent. 

    Translate longer passages into English more accurately than inaccurately. 

    Can produce longer pieces of texts in three tenses, which is more accurate than inaccurate. 

    There are occasional mistakes but the meaning is always clear. 

    Regularly uses context to work out new meanings. 

    Translate longer passages into target language more accurately than inaccurately. 

    Understand the past, present and the future. 

    In conversation: initiate, paraphrase and keep conversation going longer. Can answer unprepared questions. 

    Can translate sentences into target language accurately. 

    Translate short texts which include some complex sentences from and into target language.
